Although the way we got into the toy business was an accident, everything we've done since then has been completely by design. Especially our decision to remain family-owned and managed.
Granted, we might have approached the business side of things differently if our toys weren't such labors of love. But keeping high standards and even higher expectations have gotten us this far, and frankly, we don't see any need to change our ways.

The Philosophy
We let our products speak for themselves.
In this mass-produced, mass-marketed world, Whittle Shortline Railroad is a throwback to simpler times, which is why you won't find our toys in mega-retailers. In fact, you can only find them at select websites and independent toy retailers.
What's more, you won't see much in the way of advertising, either. Probably because every decision we make as a company is driven by our desire to build the finest wooden railroad toys in the world. As a result, our toys tend to inspire the only kind of advertising that really matters - word-of-mouth.
